Alright, let’s talk about what I did today. I was looking into getting a watch, not just any watch, mind you, but the OMEGA Speedmaster 310.92.44.50.01.001, also known as the Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” edition. It’s a real looker, that’s for sure.
So, I started by searching around online. I hit up a few different sites to see what the prices were like and who was selling them. You know, just getting a feel for the market.
Shopping Around
I checked out this site called Chrono24. They had a bunch of these watches listed. I found some good deals there, so I made a note of that. Then I headed over to eBay. It’s always good to see what people are selling these things for on auction. And yeah, they had a good selection of both new and used options. I compared the prices between the two sites, just to make sure I wasn’t missing out on a better deal somewhere else.
Details of the Watch
- It’s called the “Dark Side of the Moon” edition, which sounds pretty cool, right?
- It’s got a 44.25mm black ceramic case. I read that it’s a nod to the Apollo 8 mission.
- The strap is this fabric-leather combo. Looks tough and classy at the same time.
From what I gathered, this model is something special. It seems like it holds its value pretty well, especially the older ones and the limited editions. I guess people really like collecting these. And since the Omega Speedmaster Reduced was discontinued back in 2009, it made sense that people are keeping an eye on these watches.
After digging around, I decided to pull the trigger and buy one. I found a seller on eBay who had a brand new one, still in the box. It wasn’t cheap, but I figured it’s worth it. I mean, it’s not every day you get your hands on a watch like this. Plus, I saw that it could be a decent investment.
So, that’s what I did. I bought the OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” watch. Now I’m just waiting for it to arrive. I’m pretty excited, to be honest. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it looks in person.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure for today. It was a bit of a splurge, but hey, you only live once, right?
