They tell me it’s called a Calatrava 6119R-001. Sounds important, doesn’t it? My eyesight ain’t what it used to be, but it looks nice, shiny. Gold color, rose gold, like them fancy roses in the rich folks’ gardens. Expensive stuff.

They want how much for this thing? You could buy a whole herd of cows for that kind of money! I heard them talking, some numbers, big numbers. Price go up and down like the sun. Better to keep your money in your pocket, I say. But these young people, they love to show off. Got to have the latest thing, even if it costs an arm and a leg. This Patek Philippe, it’s one of them things. Fancy folks wear it.
They say this watch, it’s 39mm. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. It’s bigger than my old pocket watch, that’s for sure. And it’s thin, real thin, like 8.08mm thin. They like to measure everything these days. My old pocket watch only 31mm, 2.55mm thick, it keep good time too. And it’s got all these little parts inside, 164 of them! They say Patek Philippe power reserve is min, I don’t know that, maybe means battery is low. Can’t believe they put so much work into such a little thing. But it keeps the time, I guess. That’s what matters, right?

This other one, they call it “Gents Patek Philippe Calatrava”. “Gents,” that’s for men, right? Like the outhouse with the little man picture on the door. This one’s 18k rose gold. What’s “k”? More gold? They sure do love their gold. Gold, gold, gold, it’s all they talk about. Just like that gold tooth old Mr. Johnson used to have. Showed it off every chance he got. Things to Do in Columbus, Not About Watches
You know, there’s more to life than these fancy watches. I heard them talking about Columbus. Big city, lots of things to do. Not like here, where it’s just the same old, same old. They got a museum, they say, with art. And a park, a big one, with flowers. They even have festivals, big parties, with music and food. Sounds like fun, maybe. Columbus got good food, they say. Some French food, some Indian food, fried chicken. Sounds better than this watch talk, that’s for sure. Better spend money on food, not this Patek Philippe thing.
But hey, what do I know? I’m just an old lady. These young folks, they got their own ideas. If they want to spend their money on a Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001, that’s their business. Just don’t come crying to me when you’re hungry and can’t afford a good meal because you spent all your money on a shiny watch! These rich folks, they don’t know what good life is. Good food, good company, that’s what matters. Not some fancy watch. But that’s just my two cents. This old lady seen a lot of things, seen a lot of fancy things come and go.
