This here watch, you know, the CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, with that see-through back, it’s somethin’ else. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market, sayin’ it’s like the one them astronaut fellas wore to the moon. Well, I don’t know ’bout all that moon stuff, but it sure is a looker.
They call it a “transparent case back,” which is a fancy way of sayin’ you can see all the little gears and whatnots movin’ around inside. My grandson, he’s real good with these things, he says it’s called a “movement.” Says this here copy ain’t got the real Omega movement, but it’s close enough. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. If it tells time, it tells time.
Moonwatch, Moonwatch, What’s a Moonwatch?
Seems like everyone’s callin’ it a Moonwatch these days. I reckon it’s ’cause some fella wore it up there on the moon. Back in my day, we just called ’em watches. This one, this Omega Speedmaster, they say it went up with them Apollo fellas. Apollo 11, was it? Landin’ on the moon, walkin’ around up there…can you imagine?
My old man, he had a watch. Didn’t have all these fancy buttons and dials like this Speedmaster Professional. Just told the time. But he wore it every day, rain or shine. This one though, it feels kinda special, ya know? It looks solid, it has that weight.
- This Speedmaster Moonwatch, it’s got that big hand for the hours.
- Then it’s got that skinny one for the minutes.
- And a real tiny one that goes round and round real fast, that’s for the seconds, I think.
- It has all those little lines on there, to make it all precise, I guess.
Now, this copy, it ain’t the real deal, they say. But it looks just like it, ‘cept for that movement thing my grandson was talkin’ about. They made a bunch of these Omega Speedmaster watches after that moon landing, I heard. Limited edition, they call it. Means they only made a few. This one ain’t one of them, but it sure looks like it.
See-Through Back, What’s the Big Deal?
This here see-through back, it’s somethin’, ain’t it? You can watch all them little parts workin’ together. It’s like a little city in there, all busy and movin’. I don’t know how they make all them little things so small. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I can still see ’em in there, tickin’ away.
My grandson, he says there’s a real fancy Omega movement in the real ones. Says it’s all shiny and pretty. I suppose so. This copy, it’s got a good movement, too. Keeps good time. That’s all that matters, right?
I remember when they first landed on the moon. Everyone was huddled around the television, watchin’ it all happen. Black and white TV, of course. Wasn’t no color back then. And there they were, bouncin’ around on the moon. Seemed like somethin’ out of a storybook. And this Speedmaster was there, apparently.
All them Buttons and Dials
This Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, it’s got more buttons and dials than a spaceship, I swear. I don’t know what half of ’em do. My grandson tried to explain it to me once. Somethin’ ’bout chronographs and tachymeters and all that. Sounded like a foreign language to me.
There is one big button on the side, that starts the second hand. Another button stops it. And then there’s that little crown thing that you wind it up with. I guess those other buttons do somethin’, too. Maybe they tell you the weather on the moon. Who knows?
- Big button starts the second hand.
- Little button stops it.
- Crown thingy winds it up.
- Other buttons…mystery.
Is It Worth It? This CopyOMEGA?
So, is this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the transparent case back worth it? Well, it ain’t cheap, that’s for sure. But it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the real one, I’ll tell you that. And it looks just as good, far as I can tell.
It’s a conversation starter, that’s for sure. People see it on my wrist and they ask about it. They tell me all about the Moonwatch and the astronauts and all that. I just nod and smile. It’s a nice watch. Keeps good time. That’s all I need.
If you want a watch that looks like it went to the moon, but you don’t want to sell your car to get it, then this copy is a good choice. I like mine just fine. It feels good on the wrist, it looks nice, and it makes me think about them fellas bouncin’ around up there on the moon. Maybe one day, I will go to the moon, too, with my Speedmaster.
