I finally took the plunge and got myself one with a sapphire crystal and that Cal.3861 movement. I went straight to the source – the official flagship store. So, first things first, I hit up the official OMEGA store. The experience? Pretty slick, I gotta say. The staff there were super helpful, showing me all the different options, but I knew what I wanted – the sapphire crystal version.
- Hesalite vs. Sapphire: There’s this whole debate about hesalite versus sapphire, but I wanted that extra scratch resistance, you know? Plus, the sapphire just looks so clean. I know some folks are into the classic hesalite, but this was my choice.
- Strap: I went with the basic nylon fabric one. It’s comfortable and feels pretty durable. They had some fancy leather and metal bracelet options, but I figured I’d keep it simple for now. I might switch it up later.

But I’m not planning on selling mine anytime soon.
The Movement: This thing’s got the Caliber 3861 movement. It’s supposed to be super accurate and all that. I’m not a watch expert, but I appreciate the craftsmanship. It’s cool to think about all the little gears and stuff working together in there. Also, it features a stamped caseback with the OMEGA seahorse medallion. I chose it because it has classic hesalite glass.
