Big Ol’ Watch
It’s a big one, too. 42 millimeters, they told me. Sounds big to me. Like a dinner plate on your wrist. But it’s shiny, made of that steel stuff. Stainless, I think they call it. Tough stuff. And this black ring around the face, that’s aluminum. Anodized, whatever that means. They say it’s got a scale, for, uh, measuring speed or some such. Tachymetric, that’s the word. Sounds like something from one of them science shows.
This one, it ain’t got no numbers, just them little lines. But it’s got them hands, you know, for telling time. Big hand, little hand, and that skinny one that goes round and round. And it’s got them little buttons on the side. Pushers, I think they’re called. For starting and stopping that skinny hand, I reckon. Don’t go pushin’ ’em underwater, though. This watch can get wet, they say, 50 meters. But don’t go fiddlin’ with the buttons when it’s wet. Bad idea.
See-Through Back
Now, this here’s the real kicker. You can see right through the back of it! They call it a transparent case back. Like a window. You can see all them little gears and wheels turnin’ and movin’. This ain’t some cheap trinket, no sir. This is a good watch, made to last, they say that it is original order. Tough like that steel it’s made of. And that crystal, that’s the glass part, it’s strong too. Domed, they call it. Like a little bubble. Scratch-resistant, so you don’t gotta worry about it gettin’ all marked up. And it’s got some special coating on it, so it don’t glare so much. Anti-reflective, that’s what they said.
Some of these watches, they got a solid back. You can’t see nothin’. But this one, this copy OMEGA Speedmaster, it’s got that transparent case back. Fancy, But Good
This watch, it’s a bit fancy for my taste. But I can see why folks like it. It’s got history, you know? Went to the moon. And it’s made good. Strong. If you like that sort of thing, and you have some extra money. It’s a keeper. But not cheap.
