Okay, so, I’ve been wanting this OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary watch for a while now. It’s not a limited edition, but man, it’s hard to get your hands on one! I finally decided to pull the trigger and get it.
I started by calling up the OMEGA boutique. I talked to the guy there. And you know what? No luck. They didn’t have it in stock. I got placed on the waiting list, but who knows how long that would take.
Not giving up, I started looking around online. I checked out some forums and saw that some people were waiting for months, even years! That’s crazy. But I also saw that a few lucky folks managed to snag one by constantly checking with different boutiques or authorized dealers. That’s what I need to do.
So, I made a list of all the OMEGA boutiques and authorized dealers in my area. I called them all up, one by one. Most of them gave me the same answer – “not in stock, but we can add you to the waitlist.”
But then, one boutique, it’s a bit far from me, said they might have one coming in soon. They told me they were actually expecting a shipment sometime next week. This was it! I got all the details. Then I asked them to hold it for me. They said they couldn’t guarantee anything but said they’d try their best.
I was so excited! I called them every day for the next week, just to check in. Finally, on Thursday, I got the call I’d been waiting for. They told me they got one and it’s mine! Bingo!
I drove to the boutique right away. And there it was, the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary. The watch has a silver dial, and blue PVD hour markers and hands. And the blue ceramic bezel is just beautiful. It’s 42mm, steel case, not too big, not too small, just perfect on my wrist. It is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, which is a pretty solid movement, I’d say. Oh, and the back! It’s got Snoopy in his spaceship, going around the moon. It’s such a cool detail.
I paid for it. It was launched on 5th October 2020 and it was AUD$14. Not cheap, but totally worth it, at least for me.
I walked out of the boutique with the biggest smile on my face. I finally got my hands on the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary. It was a bit of a hunt, but it made the victory even sweeter.
I’ve been wearing it every day since, and I just love it. It’s a great conversation starter, and it always reminds me of the effort I put into getting it. Totally worth it!
