Alright, folks, let’s talk about this little project I got myself into. I’ve always been a fan of those classy Fendi Spy Bags, especially the Zucca Nappa Tortuga Small Spy in Tobacco Moro. It’s a classic style, you know? So, I thought, why not try to make a copy of one? A perfect copy, mind you.
First things first, I got my hands on a bunch of pictures and descriptions of the real deal. This chic bag is crafted of soft nappa dark brown calfskin leather that has been pleated, and the center is with FF Zucca canvas. Sounds fancy, right? I also found out it’s a popular one among celebrities. Makes sense, it’s a gorgeous bag.
Then, I started looking for materials. I needed that dark brown calfskin leather, or something that looked and felt just like it. And, of course, the Zucca canvas for the center part. It took some time, but I finally found some decent stuff that wouldn’t break the bank. Let me tell you that the leather in particular is not something you can find just anywhere. It had to be the right texture and quality.
Next up, I started working on the pattern. It looks simple from the outside, but let me assure you that there is nothing simple about it. I studied those pictures like crazy, trying to figure out the dimensions and how everything was put together. I drew and redrew, cut and recut until I had something that looked right. It’s all about getting those proportions perfect.
Sewing was the real challenge. I had to pleat the leather just like the original. And let me tell you, pleating leather is not an easy task, folks. It took a lot of patience and a few failed attempts, but I finally got the hang of it. The bag has a lot of details that I wanted to capture.
- The handle, for example, is not just a simple strap. It’s braided and has that special Fendi look.
- The stitching had to be perfect, too. Nice and even, just like on the real bag.
- And then there’s that little pouch, the “spy” part of the Spy Bag. It had to open and close smoothly, no sticking.
After many hours of work, a lot of trial and error, and a few curse words here and there, I finally finished it. And you know what? It turned out pretty darn good! It’s not perfect, but it’s a pretty decent copy of a Fendi Zucca Nappa Tortuga Small Spy Tobacco Moro, I made it by myself!
It’s got that classic style, the right colors, and it even feels like a quality bag. I’m pretty proud of myself, I have to say. It was a fun project, and now I have a unique bag that I can show off. Maybe I’ll even try to make another one someday. Who knows?
