I heard some young whippersnapper talkin’ ’bout a “replica”. Said this here Calatrava 5227G-010 is a stunner, all elegant and sophisticated. Now, I don’t rightly know what those words mean, but it sure sounds nice. He was goin’ on about how it was “crafted with precision.” Sounds like somethin’ a blacksmith would do, but these watch fellers, they do things different, I guess. Even had a little window that told the date. I reckon that’s handy, ‘specially when you get old like me and forget what day it is. This specialty stores, they know how to make it look pretty.
Now, they was sellin’ one of these fancy watches for, hold on to your hats, $28,190! Can you believe that? That’s more than I made in ten years pickin’ cotton! For a watch! But I guess if you got the money, you can spend it on whatever you want. That Calatrava 5227G-010, it must be worth every penny to them.
I heard another fella sayin’ his Patek Philippe Calatrava, same number, 5227G-010, was “elegant in its simplicity”. He was all fancy with his words. Said it was simple but sophisticated. That Remake Patek Philippe, they got a way with things. Said it had them “tapered hour markers and hands”. Now, I don’t know what tapered means, but I guess it means they look nice. Now, you gotta wait for these things, I hear. Sometimes a long, long time. They say for some, you gotta wait eight years! Eight years for a watch! I reckon for that Calatrava one, it is only about 12 months. Still, that’s a long time to wait for somethin’ you can’t even eat. That Remake Patek Philippe, must be very important.
Some folks say these Patek Philippe watches are a good “investment”. Like plantin’ seeds, but you don’t get no corn or beans. They say the Nautilus, the Aquanaut, the Calatrava, and some other one with a long name, they all go up in price. Like a cow gettin’ fatter, I guess. And two of them, that Nautilus 5711/1A and the Aquanaut 5167/1A-001, they get real valuable. These specialty stores, always something new to buy.
They say this here watch is 39 mm across and 9.24 mm tall. I don’t know about millimeters, but I guess that means it ain’t too big, ain’t too small. Just right for them rich folks, I reckon. They say Patek Philippe and Rolex are good. I don’t know Rolex. But that Remake Patek Philippe, they’re doin’ somethin’ right with that Calatrava 5227G-010.
