Okay, so I’ve been eyeballing the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch for a while now. You know, the whole “first watch on the moon” thing really got me hooked. I finally decided to check out this watch, especially after seeing some posts about it online.

First, I started looking up some general information about this watch. It seems that there’re so many kinds of Speedmaster out there. This makes me a bit confused about which one to choose. I saw there was some talk about Hesalite and Sapphire versions, and also something about a “Co-Axial Master Chronometer.” I don’t even know what these are, but it sounds pretty fancy.
Then I learned that Buzz Aldrin wore a Speedmaster on the moon in 1969. That’s such a cool piece of history, and it makes the watch feel kind of special. But the thing is, I saw that the prices can be all over the place. I read somewhere that the Moonwatch Professional Co-Axial Master Chronometer is about $6,800 at official stores, which is a big chunk of change.
Digging Deeper
I tried to compare the Hesalite and Sapphire versions. Some folks online were saying that the Hesalite is more “traditional,” but I’m not sure what that really means. Is one better than the other? I just want a watch that looks good and works well. The Sapphire one is sometimes called a “Sandwich,” which I think is kind of a weird name for a watch.
I also read that these watches are good at holding their value, especially the older and limited edition ones. That’s good to know, I guess, but I’m not planning on selling it anytime soon. I just want to wear it and enjoy it.
Making a Decision
After all this reading and comparing, I felt a bit overwhelmed. There are just so many options and things to consider! I mean, I like the idea of owning a piece of history, but I also want to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth.
Ultimately, I decided to visit the official store to see the watches in person. I went to their store and tried a few on. Talking to the salesperson helped a lot. They explained the differences between the models and answered all my silly questions. Seeing them up close, the Sapphire version really caught my eye. It just looked so clean and sleek.
Taking the Plunge
After much consideration, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the Sapphire crystal. It was definitely a splurge, but holding it in my hand, it felt totally worth it. It’s got a good weight to it, and the craftsmanship is just amazing. Plus, knowing its history and connection to the Apollo missions makes it feel even more special.
I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I’m really happy with my decision. It’s comfortable, it looks great, and it’s a real conversation starter. People always ask me about it, and I get to tell them the whole story about the moon and everything. It’s like having a little piece of history on my wrist. Overall, it was a bit of a journey getting here, but I’m glad I took the time to do my research and find the perfect Moonwatch for me.
