Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Moon watch for a while now. You know, the one with all the fancy diamonds and the elegant design? Yeah, that one. But let’s be real, the price tag on those things is, well, let’s just say it’s a bit out of my league. So I thought, why not try to make a little replica of my own?
First things first, I started digging around online, looking for anything and everything about this watch. I mean, pictures, descriptions, you name it. I was basically trying to get a feel for the whole vibe of the watch, from the dial to the strap, every little detail. It’s surprisingly hard to find decent info on some of these luxury watches, like, where are all the close-up shots?
Then, I started sketching. Lots and lots of sketching. I grabbed my notebook and started drawing out what I thought the watch should look like. It wasn’t perfect, obviously, I’m no artist, but it helped me get a basic idea of the proportions and how all the elements fit together. Let me tell you, getting those curves right on the case was a real pain.
Next up was figuring out what materials I could actually use. I’m not exactly rolling in diamonds, so I had to find some cheaper alternatives. I found these little sparkly things at the craft store, they kind of look like diamonds if you squint, maybe cubic zirconia? I also grabbed some silver-colored polymer clay to mold the watch case and a nice piece of faux leather for the strap. It’s all about that resourcefulness, you know?
The actual crafting process was… well, let’s just say it was a learning experience. I started by shaping the clay into the watch case. This took forever, and I had to redo it like a million times to get it even remotely close to the real thing. Then, I carefully placed those “diamond” things around the bezel, trying to mimic the pattern on the real watch. It was tedious, man, really tedious.
For the watch face, I printed out a picture I found online and scaled it down to the right size. It wasn’t the best quality, but hey, it worked. I glued it onto a piece of cardboard and then stuck that inside the clay case. It was starting to look like something!

The strap was actually the easiest part. I just cut the faux leather to the right size and attached it to the case. I even found a little buckle at the craft store to make it look more legit.
The Result
So, after hours of work, I finally had my very own “Jaeger-LeCoultre” Rendez-Vous Moon watch. Okay, okay, it’s not exactly a perfect replica. It’s a bit rough around the edges, and those “diamonds” are definitely not fooling anyone. But you know what? I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool. It’s not about having the real thing, it’s about the process, the creativity, and the satisfaction of making something with your own two hands, right? Plus, it’s a fun conversation starter. People always ask me about it, and I get to tell them the whole story. It is not as good as the real one, but I like it!
It is not like the “Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Master Ultra Thin Date” that I saw online. Mine looks better.
It is also not like what I read online, “For delicate and refined women, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the Rendez-Vous line.” I am a man, so what?
Anyway, it was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford the real deal, but until then, I’m happy with my homemade version. Who knows, maybe I’ll try making another one, maybe a different model this time. We’ll see!
