Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna walk you through my little adventure of remaking the PRADA Cleo Bag. Yeah, you heard that right – the Cleo. I saw this bag, and I thought, “Why not try making one myself?” So, here goes nothing!
First off, I got my hands on some leather. I mean, you can’t have a Cleo without leather, can you? I spent a good chunk of time just feeling different types, trying to find one that felt right. It’s gotta be smooth but not too stiff, you know? It is said that Cleo first debuted for Spring 2021, playing on a popular archival Prada shape from the 1990s. I remembered that I had some vintage leather from the 90s, so I decided to use it for this project.
Next up, I studied the shape. The Cleo’s got this curved design that’s just so sleek. I sketched it out, made a few paper models, and even cut out some cardboard to get a feel for the dimensions. The Tricky Part: Sewing
- I dusted off my old sewing machine – hadn’t used that thing in ages!

But I kept at it. Stitch by stitch, I sewed the pieces together. Seeing the bag take shape was so satisfying. It was like watching something come to life right before my eyes.
The Lining
Now, for the inside, I wanted something special. Look at the Lining It is made either of embossed jacquard fabric or leather. The fabric lining features the Prada logo followed by a rope chain line. The logo alternates between right side up and upside down, with the rope chain in between. If the lining is made of leather. I remembered I had some fabric with a cool pattern, so I used that. It’s not the same as the original, but I think it adds a nice personal touch. I carefully cut and sewed it into the bag. Perfect fit!
The final touch was the hardware. I found some old buckles and clasps in my craft box. They weren’t shiny and new, but they had character. I cleaned them up, polished them a bit, and attached them to the bag.
