Okay, so, I got this idea to remake a PRADA Symbole Tote Bag. Yeah, the original ones are, like, way out of my budget. So I thought, why not just make one myself? Here’s how it went down.

First thing I did was search online for the bag’s design. I mean, I needed to know what it looked like, right? Found a bunch of pictures, studied them real hard, paying attention to all the little details, the shape, the size, the pattern, everything.

Then, I went shopping for materials. This was a bit of a challenge, finding the right fabric and stuff that looked like the real deal. I ended up getting some good quality synthetic leather and some sturdy fabric for the lining. The hardware, like the buckles and zippers, took some time to find, but I managed to get some that looked pretty similar.

Next up, cutting and sewing. I used the pictures as a guide and started cutting out the pieces for the bag. Now, I’m not a pro at sewing, but I know the basics. I sewed the pieces together, slowly and carefully, trying to make it look as neat as possible. The lining, the inside pockets, everything was sewn with my ordinary machine. It was a real test of patience, I tell ya.

The handles were a bit tricky. I wanted them to be sturdy and look like the original. I ended up using multiple layers of the synthetic leather, with some interfacing in between to give them some structure. I sewed them on real tight, making sure they could handle some weight.

  • Cut the main fabric.
  • Sew them piece by piece.
  • Sew the handles with extra care.
  • Attach the hardware.

After that, it was time to add the hardware. I attached the buckles, the zippers, and the little metal feet at the bottom. This part was actually kinda fun, seeing the bag come together.

Finally, I added the PRADA logo. Now, I obviously couldn’t get the real one, so I found a pretty good imitation online and attached it to the bag. It’s not the real deal, but it looks pretty convincing, if I do say so myself.

The Result

And that’s it! My very own homemade PRADA Symbole Tote Bag. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It looks good, it’s functional, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Plus, I got to learn a few things along the way. Not bad for a DIY project, right?
