Well, let me tell you about this here fancy bag, the Yves Saint Laurent YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL thingamajig. Folks call it YSL for short, easier on the tongue, ya know? Sounds all highfalutin, but it’s just a bag, though a mighty fine one, I reckon.
What is this YSL thing anyway?
Now, they say it’s a French somethin’-somethin’, a “luxury fashion house.” Sounds like a big ol’ fancy store to me. Started way back in 1961 by some fella named Yves Saint Laurent and his buddy. They make all sorts of things, clothes and such, but we’re here to talk about this here bag, the LE CARRé SATCHEL.
- It’s a satchel, see? Means it’s got a strap and you can sling it over your shoulder.
- They call it “LE CARRé,” which I guess is French for somethin’ or other. Probably means “square” or somethin’ like that, lookin’ at the shape of it.
- And of course, it’s got that YSL mark on it, so everyone knows you got the real deal, not some knock-off from the flea market.
Where can you get your hands on one of these?
Well, if you’re fancy enough, you can go to their “official flagship store.” That’s where they got all the good stuff, straight from the source. Or you can go online, they got a website and all. Heard tell you can find ’em at Bloomingdale’s too, if you got one of them fancy stores near ya. Some other places sellin’ it used, like Designer Exchange Flagship, but gotta be careful, might not be the real McCoy.
Is it worth the fuss?
Now, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? These things ain’t cheap. They say they’re made of real good leather, and they got all them fancy stitches and whatnot. And they come in all sorts of colors, black mostly, but I seen some red ones and blue ones too. Folks say they last a long time, so maybe it’s worth spendin’ the extra cash if you want somethin’ that’ll hold up.
The BLACK LE CARR satchel in BOX SAINT LAURENT, that’s a special one.
Comes in a fancy box and all, makes you feel like you’re gettin’ somethin’ special. They got other bags too, not just this square one. “HANDBAGS” they call ’em, all shapes and sizes. But this LE CARRé one, that’s the one everyone’s talkin’ about. And this one, the “Yves Saint Laurent Le Carre Satchel Bag – AWL2542 Saint Laurent Paris,” they say you can get a good deal on it sometimes, maybe even 80% off! Imagine that! Still gonna cost a pretty penny, I reckon, but better than payin’ full price.
Saint Laurent or YSL, what’s the difference?
Heard some folks gettin’ all confused about the name. See, it’s the same thing. They just use different letters sometimes. Saint Laurent, that’s the whole name, but YSL is shorter, easier to say. The marks look a little different, but it’s all from the same place, same folks makin’ it. Don’t let ’em fool ya into thinkin’ it’s somethin’ different.
And get this, they say it’s cheaper over in Europe!
Paris, France, to be exact. Said them bags cost at least 20% less over there. And if you’re from America, you can get even more money back, somethin’ about a “VAT refund.” So, if you’re plannin’ a trip overseas, might be worth waitin’ to buy your bag ’til you get there. Save a few dollars, that’s always good, you know? Enough to buy a good few pounds of flour and some sugar, I say.
Now, they also got this “Saint Laurent Puffer Medium Shoulder” bag.
Not the same as the LE CARRé, but still a Saint Laurent. It’s a shoulder bag, bigger than the satchel I think. Costs a bit less too, from what I hear. Three dollars, they say. Can’t be right, must be three thousand dollars, these city folk and their prices. They got all kinds, really. But if you’re set on that square one, the LE CARRé, well, you gotta be prepared to shell out some dough.
So, there you have it, the lowdown on this YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL bag.
Fancy name, fancy price, but folks seem to love it. Whether it’s worth it or not, well, that’s up to you and your pocketbook. Me? I’ll stick to my good ol’ canvas tote bag, does the job just fine. But hey, if you got the money and you want a nice bag, can’t hurt to treat yourself, I guess.
