Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Prada Cahier bag for like, forever. But, you know, the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself? Yeah, I know, sounds crazy, but I was determined. I started this whole project because I saw all these celebs, like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, rocking these bags, and I just had to have one.
First things first, I needed to find the right materials. I spent days, literally days, searching online and going to different stores. I learned that Prada uses some top-notch stuff, like this Saffiano leather and some suede things. I finally found some materials that I think looked and felt pretty close to the real deal. This full-grain leather I picked up is really nice, and I hope it will last a long time. I guess only time will tell on that.
The Hard Part – Actually Making the Bag
Next up, the hard part – actually making the bag. Let me tell you, it was not easy. I watched a bunch of videos and read a lot of articles online. It took me a few tries to get the shape right. I used this old bag I had as a model to try to get the size and look right.
- Cutting the leather: This was super tricky. I had to make sure all the pieces were the right size so they would fit together perfectly. I messed up a couple of times and had to start over, not going to lie.
- Sewing: Oh boy, the sewing. I’m not a pro at sewing, so this took me forever. I had to be really careful to make sure the stitches were straight and strong. The bag started to come together, but it was slow going.
- Adding the hardware: The original Cahier bag has this really cool metal stuff on it. I found some similar-looking pieces at a craft store, and after a lot of trial and error, I managed to attach them to the bag. They are not perfect, but they definitely give it that fancy vibe.
After weeks of work, I finally finished it! It’s not exactly like the real Prada Cahier bag, but I’m actually really proud of it. I carried it out the other day, and I felt so good. I even got a couple of compliments on it, which was a nice surprise.
Honestly, the whole process was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but it was also super rewarding. I learned a lot about making bags and working with leather. Plus, now I have a bag that’s pretty unique. I know mine isn’t as strong as the real Prada ones that are made in Italy, but it’s good enough for me. If you’re thinking about trying something like this, I’d say go for it! Just be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort. It’s worth it in the end, though. Maybe this bag isn’t super popular like those Re-Edition ones from 2000 or 2005, but I think it’s pretty awesome.
